Art for AIDS @ The Fulton County Atrium – THU, MAR 14 7p

Cocktails, hors d' oeuvres, silent auction and live auction of unique artwork in a variety of styles created by the Men of Jefferson Place Transitional House, as well as artwork donated by professional artists.   This is a great opportunity to purchase an affordable, unique piece of art for a great cause! It's a fun event with an interesting mix of people, and you might even meet the artist!

Date/Time: 7-10 pm, Thursday, March 14, 2002 

Location: 141 Pryor Street, Downtown Atlanta, in the Fulton County Atrium, corner of MLK and Pryor

- Take the MLK Dr. Exit, towards STATE CAPITOL/STADIUM. 

- Keep LEFT at the fork in the ramp.  Merge onto MARTIN LUTHER KING JR DR SW, which is a one-way street.

- Park in the Underground Atlanta pay-parking garage (look for big purple arrow).  Walk across the street directly into the building, where the event is being held.

 

Art for AIDS is a fundraiser for AID Atlanta's StreetHome program, which provides direct services including counseling, training, and care for homeless persons with HIV/AIDS. This is the third year for this collaboration between the staff of Fulton County's Human Services Department and AID Atlanta. AIDS disproportionately affects the homeless; according to the CDC, HIV rates among the homeless may be as high as 1 in 10.

ATL Community Food Bank Hunger Walk/Run @ Turner Field – SUN, MAR 17 1p

 "It Could Be Your Lucky Day!"  The Hunger Walk/Run steps off on Sunday, March 17 (St. Paddy's Day!!) at Turner Field!  The 10K steps off at 1 p.m.; the 5K steps off at 1:30 p.m.  Festivities at Turner Field -- including games, bands all along the route, a food drive and a stage show with 11 Alive anchor Mara Davis, V-103's Porsche Foxx and Z93's Mara Davis -- continue until 4 p.m. 

   Runners pay a $25 entry fee; walkers are encouraged to raise money through sponsorships.  New in 2002, the 10K run is a Peachtree Road Race Qualifier!! 

   Proceeds benefit the Atlanta Community Food Bank and 12 additional nonprofit organizations leading hunger relief efforts.
