THUNDERDOME - An assault on your senses @ Loft A5 - FRI, APR 12 8:30p
The Stimulator and Mutagen Visuals infuse their visionary talent with slick media, visual textures, temporal possibilities, tactile and aural potential to present an assault on your senses. On Friday, April 12, 2002 Thunderdome will blast audiences and participants with a series of groundbreaking explorations of digital media that includes video, music, and the art of games. Armed with an arsenal of visual ammunition, Brain Bartram (Mutagen) and Franklin Lopez (The Stimulator) will duel alongside their favorite local DJ’s Sharaab, Nav, Hymn, Radioscience and Mind Expansion Technologies.
Thunderdome is an opportunity to become immersed in art that is unfettered, uncensored and unafraid to experiment. This where the cutting edge of multimedia gets sharpened. The ingenious elements of Thunderdome involve the use of music combined with video projections to raise the level of consciousness and awareness of the VJ. At the event informational sheets will be given out as well as a limited supply of CD-Rom’s with VJ software and Internet links.
Thunderdome will also feature the controversial video sculpture “The Masturbation Station” by Shawn Knight, and a demonstration of the complex VJ program NATO by Nathan Jones of Lifeform Project. There will also be vintage home video game consoles such as the Atari 2600, ColecoVision, Intellivision and emulators of popular arcade games.
Thunderdome is more than just a party, it’s an educational project of digital artfare. This event is destined to take the art community by storm, making it one of the most exciting multimedia performances of the year. All in all this night promises to live up to it’s subtitle “An assault on your senses”

DangerCrew Presents @ 708 Spring Street - SAT, APR 20 10p
The official after-party for the String Cheese Incident show at the Fabulous Fox showcasing a diverse mix of national and local DJ talent and live performance from two of Atlanta’s top bands.
This year on 4/20 DangerCrew is holding our most diverse event to date. Headlining this celebration is a DJ of national distinction, DJ HARRY, hailing from Colorado. He has gained widespread notoriety and acclaim for his house remixes of The String Cheese Incident, who will be playing to a sold out crowd at the Fabulous Fox that same night. The event has been tagged by the band’s management as the official after-party for the concert
due to Harry’s involvement and close proximity of the club to the Fox (3 blocks).Joining Harry in the main room will be 2 of Atlanta’s up and coming bands,
each with their own unique sound and style. First, AERIAL, Atlanta’s top live electronic act, whose recent accolades include headlining the most successful New Years Eve party in the city, 002 at the Sheraton Downtown, gracing the cover of 99Xpress in January, a feature article in Creative Loafing in February, the release of their debut LP, Chasing Thoughts, a CD release party at the Roxy and a very successful performance at the ASCAP showcase for the Winter Music Conference in Miami. This show will mark their first Atlanta performance in nearly 2 months! www.aerial2012.comAnd, don’t miss the opportunity to catch MOJO99. One of Atlanta’s most promising hip-hop acts; they combine the talents and harmonies of 3 incredible lyricists with a complete band and DJ/turn-tablist. Their sound has been described as combining the best of the mainstream with a true underground flare.
Matt Silliman “DJ Starboy” will entertain the crowd between the live performances in the main room. Matt is one of Atlanta’s most well known DJs he is known for his high energy, hard house and funky breaks. The newly renovated space, which plays home for this event, also provides for 2 additional environments of entertainment. DJ J. Gerry and Bethany will be kickin’ it in the front lounge and patio. Their musical selections will range from soulful downbeat to deep disco style house music. Meanwhile, in the backroom which itself holds a very industrial, underground essence, DJ Sky and Rhythm will work out a dancer’s delight with a powerful collection of underground hip hop. Also on hand, a number of professional hip-hop dancers will help to motivate the scene.
