To get to Downtown Rocks, take MARTA to the Civic Center Station, go south two blocks on West Peachtree Place and left on Centennial Olympic Park Drive. It's off of Simpson Street, on the right. Look for all the people. When you see a huge bunch of people standing around downtown Atlanta it's either a) the Olympics or b) this thing. And the Olympics are real over. Make sure to leave all pets, booze, bikes, chairs, backpacks, food, cameras and coolers at home. In other words, you can't munch on a pack full of snacks and sip an ice cold martini whilst taking a picture of Fido riding a bike.

"Buy A Bag" Book Sale @ downtownATL's Central Library
July 19-20

Come to Downtown's Central Library of the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System for a sale of thousands of books, including recent fiction & non-fiction, social science, and vintage travel. $5 gets you a bag you can fill with YOUR CHOICE of books. The newly formed Friends of the Central Atlanta Library (FOCAL) will hold a book sale consisting of several 1,000 volumes being culled from the Library's collection.  The sale is being held in conjunction with Family Literacy Day at the Library.

The 3rd Annual Flavourset Science Friction 2002 will take place August 3rd at SciTrek Science and Technology Museum. Science Friction 2002 provides carefully chosen performers and artists who offer the best of what is new and ultra-modern today in the world of music, fashion, art, cuisine, and technology to an audience of over 3,000 people. The SciTrek Science and Technology Museum has been chosen as the new venue to host the event this year. Moving to this new venue, which is both larger and more dynamic, helps to accommodate the growth of the event now in its third year. Science Friction 2002 will be an multi media
showcase taking place on the indoor/ outdoor 80,000 square foot grounds of SciTrek Science and Technology Museum from 9pm until 3am. Previous Science Friction event's drew over 3,000 guests from 10 states in the Southeast and received 20 pages of press, as well as coverage from three national television network affiliates.

A Science Friction Fashion Show will commence at 11pm and will display modern urban, cosmopolitan and club fashions by nationally celebrated designer Bill Hallman. With four stores in Atlanta, Bill Hallman is well known as the largest and most successful fashion designer in Atlanta. A selection of Atlanta's premier restaurants, including Bluepointe, Spice, Pano and Pauls, Atmospheres, Panita and Kyma providing future/fusion cuisine for guests. There will be four rooms of live electronic music produced by internationally acclaimed DJ's, who will be accompanied by post-modern film and videos. DJ's including Brett Long, Numinous, Brian Dotson, J-Luv, Martin Fry, DK and Rob Horne will spin this world's top progressive house and trance and lounge music.
