Hello Crew!

Head to the Library Thursday night (YES! you heard right) with the "Downtowners" as they take their monthly gathering to a very cool new venue - The Central Library Rooftop!

Next head on up to see The Rolling Stones at the Fox! Well, sort of. The 2002 Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival at the Fabulous Fox Theater is hitting its "grand finale" over the next couple of weeks with Spiderman, Star Wars and this Thursday's double feature The Last Waltz & Ladies & Gentleman: The Rolling Stones.

On Saturday the Womens Professional Soccer (WUSA) final "Founders Cup II" championship game hits downtownATL this Saturday afternoon.
A BIG congrats to the Atlanta Beat who made it to the final four last week - an excellent season! Our ladies made a great effort but were barely edged out in overtime by Carolina. So this weekend it will be the Carolina Courage vs. the Washington Freedom featuring Mia Hamm.

For happenings outside of the downtownATL area, "Atlanta Illustrated" is your ticket. Highlights this week include Wednesday Night Drinking Club tonight @ The Westin Atlanta North and the SEC Kickoff Party and Bravo! @ Cherry on Friday.

Hope to see y’all real soon
downtownATL!

Team In Training Fundraiser @ Gordon Biersch
MON AUG 26 6:30p

"What better reason to start the week with a happy hour and at the same time you'll be supporting a great cause. I am a part of the Team N Training with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, I have committed myself to raise money in order for me to be able to sponsor a child and at the same time compete in an Olympic Triathlon. This cause is very important to me due to a personal loss I had and I believe the sooner we find a cure for this disease the better off we'll all be.
In order to make this fundraiser successful, I will be asking for a $10 donation, which includes appetizers and your first drink. Also, we will have a silent auction and a raffle including prizes such as a trip with the Discover Pilot Tours, excellent Braves tickets, and gift certificates to various restaurants. Please come and join me at this fundraiser with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Team In Training and make a difference in a child's life!! If you have any questions - please contact me - Henrik Hanson - at 404 229 1590."

David Dunning will open for MCA recording artist, Atticus Fault on Sunday, July 14 for a special all ages performance at the Hard Rock in Atlanta. Dunning, with acoustic guitar in hand, is backed by Aron Robinson on drums, T.J. Stone on lead guitar/vocals, Scott Fedewa on guitar/vocals and Scott Bannevich (Edwin McCain) on bass. The band's diverse backgrounds and musical tastes add a swaggering edginess to Dunning's storytelling lyrics and catchy hooks. Solid performers as well as musicians, Dunning and his band share a sense of camaraderie among themselves and with the audience, creating a rare chemistry that translates to their overall sound. "We bring so many different influences to the table and as a band we are definitely greater than the sum of our parts," says Dunning.

First Thursdays - downtownATL Arts Walk
THU, SEPT 5 5p

This is the perfect time to experience art inside and out.   This month we invite you to stroll with us through magnificent buildings and streets to enjoy the beauty of our city and the art created by our neighbors.  Over the past months First Thursdays has continued to grow with new programs and additional venues so that art lovers can view the arts, tour the historic districts of downtown and enjoy various discounts at downtown restaurants.
Come take a walk with us the First Thursday of each month, from 5-9 p.m.

With its growth, First Thursdays has become more than just an arts walk.  It is an event where singles can meet, business people can unwind, and couples can enjoy the beauty of downtown’s landscape.  And all these are accomplished while taking in the culture that the arts offer.  To put it simply, no two trips could ever be the same. Validated parking is available at the SunTrust Plaza Galleries and the APEX museum, call museums for details.
