First
Thursdays Art Walk @ Downtown Atlanta
THU OCT 3 5-9p
The daddy of all art walks, the First Thursdays Arts Walk
takes place - you guessed it - on the First Thursday of each
month from 5-8 p.m. This fun and crowded social event is focused
in Downtown Atlanta - Atlanta's premiere gallery district
and spills into the nearby neighborhoods as well. Many
of the 14-plus arts venues (including galleries, museums,
artist workspace and performance art venues) time their new
exhibits for unveiling on First Thursdays, so there's always
something new to see.
Over the past months First Thursdays has continued to grow
with new programs and additional venues so that art lovers
can view the arts, tour the historic districts of downtown
and enjoy various discounts at downtown restaurants.
With its growth, First Thursdays has become more than just
an arts walk. It is an event where singles can meet,
business people can unwind, and couples can enjoy the beauty
of downtowns landscape. And all these are accomplished
while taking in the culture that the arts offer. To
put it simply, no two trips could ever be the same. For more

The Flying Dutchman @ The Fox
OCT 24 thru OCT 27
A mysterious Dutchman is condemned to sail the seas through
eternity, in search of a mate who will be faithful unto death.
A young woman is obsessed with a portrait of a man she has
never met, and a love she has dreamt of all her life.
The Atlanta Opera makes its first foray into the genius of
Richard Wagner with The Flying Dutchman, one of the most accessible
of the composer's works. Featuring a powerful and richly orchestrated
score, laden with evocative leitmotifs, Wagner's lyrical and
passionate drama explores the inner turmoil of two outsiders
predestined for one another...whether in life or death.
