This week's social calendar is as full as I still am from
Thanksgiving dinner! We here at the Social Crew staff are
putting in our New Year's resolutions early...we're eating
healthy and even squeezing in some time for the gym
every morning...pretty soon you won't even recognize us!
The Downtowners are having their happy hour tonight (Wednesday)
at Mumbo Jumbo
- head over there for your complimentary drink, hors
d'oeuvres,
and door prizes! On Thursday after you check out Turner's
First Thursdays, head over to Philips Arena. The Hawks
face the Milwaukee Bucks in a nationally televised contest
on TNT. At halftime a drawing will determine the 5,000 fans
that will take home the Limited Edition Collectors Set of
TNT's
Studio Crew Bobblehead dolls.
This weekend, if you are trying to eat healthy as we are,
make a stop at the Market
on Means Street, open Friday through Sunday. On Saturday
morning,
wake up early and get downtown for the Children's
Healthcare of Atlanta Parade and then you can walk over
to the Georgia World Congress Center for their annual Festival
of Trees.
On Sunday, grab a kid or two and make your way to SciTrek
- Harry
Connick Jr. will be performing live but you must have
a child in tow if you want to get in!

Peach Drop Festival @Underground Atlanta
Little
Richard headlines the 14th Annual Peach Drop!
Returning
to the heart of downtown Atlanta, Underground Atlanta hosts
the 13th annual Peach Drop, the Southeast's largest New Year's
Eve celebration. An Atlanta tradition, the Peach Drop festivities
will include entertainment and fun for the whole family throughout
the day. The fun then continues into the night with a concert
by nationally known musical talent. Shortly before Midnight,
the descent of the 800-pound peach will begin the countdown
to the New Year. The dropping of the "Big Peach"
will then culminate into a beautiful eruption of music and
fireworks against the downtown Atlanta skyline. Last year's
Peach Drop drew a record attendance of more than 100,000 attendees
to enjoy an amazing evening of music and merriment.
