us for this FIRST Wednesday Wind Down of the season. Every Wednesday,

Black Voices is an intimate mosaic of images, poetry and storytelling
by the Affrilachian Poets as they give insightful glimpses of life
into the American Black South and Appalachian region of America.
The ensemble of African-American writers challenge simple notions
of an all white Appalachian region and culture while drawing on
traditions such as the Harlem Renaissance, the Black Arts Movement
and experiences of the African Diaspora. Co-sponsored by IMAGE Film

by our neighbors. Come take a walk with us the First Thursday of
each month, from 5-8 p.m.
Over the past months Turner's First Thursdays has continued to grow
with new programs and additional venues so that art lovers can view
the arts, tour the historic districts of Downtown and enjoy various
discounts at Downtown restaurants. Turner's First Thursdays is a
self-guided tour of galleries, with no beginning or ending point,
you are free to move at your own pace.
With its growth, Turner's First Thursdays has become more than just
an arts walk. It is an event where singles can meet, business people
can unwind, and couples can enjoy the beauty of Downtown’s
landscape. And all these are accomplished while taking in the culture
that the arts offer. To put it simply, no two trips could ever be
the same.
