Atlanta Journal/Constitution International Auto Show @ Georgia World Congress Center
Area new car enthusiasts will once again have the chance to shop and compare from over 38 different lines of new vehicles when the 23rd Annual Atlanta Journal-Constitution International Auto Show returns to the Georgia World Congress Center on April 9-17, 2005.
This will mark the first year that this very successful show will run for nine days. This expansion is really no surprise, because Atlanta has been one of the fastest growing five day auto shows in the nation, setting new records for attendance during each of the past two years.
The 2005 show will also have the benefit of two weekends during its nine day run.
"It's time for our show to grow to nine days," commented Shayne Wilson, President of the Metro Atlanta Automobile Dealers Association (MAADA). "The growth of the Atlanta show has been amazing in its 22 years. It is not only the largest annual consumer event at the Georgia World Congress Center, but also the largest show of its kind in the Southeastern U.S."
The show is also the largest automotive event for the Metro Atlanta dealers, featuring a wide variety of styles, including luxury vehicles, economy cars, sports cars, exotics, limited production cars, concepts, convertibles, MPV vans, light trucks and 4-wheel drive vehicles.

The Noble & Unique Riesling @ City Grill
City Grill is pleased to present a tasting of the most refreshing wines in the world on April 12, 2005. Experience the delicacy of Riesling wines as speaker Mike O’Connor of Empire Distributors entertains questions throughout the event. The restaurant will offer a sampling of light hors d’oeuvres to compliment these memorable wines. The festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. with a social gathering for $19 per person including wine tasting and tapas.
April’s Wine on Wednesday will be a complete cultural experience, as the restaurant will offer more than simply food & wine from Germany. Sixteen singers from Georgia State University School of Music will present an evening of German operatic songs and arias, to be savored throughout the tasting and dinner.
Despite its neglect in the United States, Riesling is considered by many wine experts to be the most noble and unique white grape variety in the world. Its refinement is complemented by the mouth-watering flavors of fresh ripe peaches, apricots, and apples. Sometimes the wines are pierced with a vibrant mineral quality, like the taste of water running over stones in a mountain stream. When looking for foods to pair with Rieslings think versatility from appetizers to desserts. They are the perfect wine treat to go splendidly with cherries, melons, and aged ripe cheeses. For main dishes they tend to pair well with light meats like pork, poultry or white fish. Rieslings are also easily able to handle the spice and zest of favored Asian foods.
Wines that will be featured:
Ý Riesling Sekt (Sparkling), Germany NV
Ý Dexheimer Doktor Spatlese, Germany 2001
Ý Rheinhessen Kabinett, Germany 2001
Ý Rheinhesses Spatlese, Germany 2001
Ý Piesporter Michelsburg Spatlese, Germany 2000
Ý Bernkasteler Kurfuerstlay Spatlese, Germany NV
City Grill will feature Riesling wines on the wine list throughout the entire month of April. The wines will also be paired with complimentary dishes on the Chef’s Tasting Menu on April 12th for those who would like to experience a meal dedicated to the delights of Riesling wines. Those who attend both the tasting and The Chef’s Tasting Menu will receive the total package for only $75.00 all-inclusive.
Chef Anne Moriarta will graciously prepare alternative selections for those who have special dietary needs. Reservations are suggested and may be made by calling 404-524-2489 or accessing www.citygrillatlanta.com. City Grill is located in the historic Hurt Building at 50 Hurt Plaza in downtown Atlanta.
