SciTrek Summer Camp @ SciTrek
SciTrek summer camp sessions inspire and educate campers in a hands-on fun environment. Throughout the summer, campers participate in theme based science and technology projects led by museum staff and experienced camp counselors. We have a number of exciting topics planned this summer including Crime Investigation 101, Gross Anatomy, Claymation, Planet Patrol, the Science of Story Telling, and many more. The majority of the sessions are week-long; however, one day sessions are being offered on June 11th, 12th, 13th, 30th and July 1st and 2nd. Masters of the Night: The True Story of Bats @ SciTrek
“Masters of the Night: The True Story of Bats” (a new traveling exhibit) brings the mystery surrounding bats out of the dark. The exhibition, with concurrent tours in the United States, Mexico and Europe, dispels popular misconceptions about bats, describes their ecological importance and gives visitors an appreciation of the true wonders of the bat world. Special effects, multi-sensory interactive displays, a Gothic castle and environmentally lifelike settings such as caves and rain forests present bats in mythic and real-life settings. Salute 2 America Parade @ Downtown Atlanta 1p
WSB-TV/Channel 2 will celebrate the Fourth of July with its annual WSB-TV Salute 2 America Parade Presented by Six Flags Over Georgia, which this year is being held in honor of U.S. soldiers and will feature Chief Warrant Officer Ronald Young Jr., the hometown hero who will preside as this year's grand marshal. The parade will start at 1 p.m. in Downtown Atlanta at Peachtree and Baker streets in front of the SunTrust Plaza building (303 Peachtree) before proceeding down Peachtree to Marietta Street before turning right and then going to Centennial Olympic Park Drive, where it ends. Centennial Olympic Park celebrates America's birthday in a big way each year. This year, entertainment kicks off at 4:30 p.m. For the evening, the headliner will be the rock group KANSAS, known for its hits "Dust in the Wind" and "Carry on Wayward Son," taking the stage at 8 p.m. Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m.
