Behind the Bricks:
Castleberry Hill Lofts on Tour @ Castleberry Hill

The second annual Castleberry Hill Loft Tour will be held Saturday & Sunday, Oct. 11 & 12, 2003. This is the public's opportunity to see unique examples of in-town living with original decorating styles, innovative uses of space, as well as creativity on a budget, since the favorite area was not part of the Downtown Tour of Lofts & Lifestyles held in May. Lofts ranging in size from several hundred to a few thousand square feet, selected by a panel of local architecture and design experts, showcase the diversity of the people and properties of Castleberry Hill.
Many of the structures in Castleberry Hill's federally recognized Historic District were built in the early 20th century, the boom of Atlanta's railroad days. Originally used for retailing, wholesaling and light industry, they have now been adapted into residences or live/work spaces. New construction in the neighborhood, which complements the older buildings, attests to the popularity of the area. Lofts from past Tours have been featured in the AJC's "Home & Garden" section, in Jezebel magazine, and on GTV's "Lofty Ideas."

Tour hours are 11:00 am-5:00 pm on Saturday and 12 noon-5:00 pm on Sunday. Tickets are $15 per person on the days of the Tour, $12 in advance. Tickets are available on-line at www.myArtsCard.com and are discounted for ArtsCard members. Free parking is provided courtesy of Fulton Supply Company, and Castleberry Hill is a short walk from the Georgia Dome/Philips MARTA station. The historic neighborhood is located on the southwestern edge of Downtown, just south of the Centennial Olympic Park, the CNN Center, Philips Arena, Georgia Dome and Georgia World Congress Center.
Sponsors of this year's Tour include: No Más Productions, Metropolitan Studio, Skot Foreman Fine Art, Ty Stokes Gallery, Garden, Heavenly Scent Housekeeping, ArtsCard, and the Peters St. Market & Café. The fund-raising event is organized by the Castleberry Hill Neighborhood Association.
