Oregon: Taste of the Pacific Northwest @ City Grill 6:30p
City Grill’s monthly Wine On Wednesday will feature selected wineries from Oregon. The geographically diverse state of Oregon has six wine growing appellations with unique micro-climates producing over forty varietals of grapes throughout the state including nationally and internationally recognized Pinot Noirs that rank equal to the wines of Burgundy, France.
Bobby Fiournoy of Grapefields will provide commentary on the wines to be served including Foris 2001 Pinot Blanc, Foris 2000 Cabernet Franc, Abacela Vintner’s Blend 2000, and Big Fire 2001 Pinot Noir. Farmstead cheeses from Sweet Grass Dairy in Thomasville, Georgia will accompany the wines.
The cost to participate in Wine On Wednesday is $19 per person including tax and gratuity.

Microsoft Wright Flyer Simulator @ SciTrek 10a

This vivid, traveling simulator commemorates the global impact of the Wright Brothers, and provides the chance to travel through aviation history aboard the first powered aircraft—the 1903 Wright Flyer—and recreate the flight that changed the world. Would-be pilots operate the replica aircraft using hand levers and a shifting hip mechanism to control virtual take-offs and landings while lying in front of a giant panoramic projection screen. The simulator screen depicts the sandy scenery of the dunes at
Kitty Hawk, providing the most realistic 1903 Wright Flyer encounter possible.
Come join us on October 16th for a special ceremony to unveil this unique exhibit and try your hand at flying the underpowered, unstable 1903 Wright Flyer nearly 100 years after its first historic journal over the dunes of Kitty Hawk, NC.
The exhibit will be at SciTrek until October 19, 2003.

On December 17, 1903 at 10:35am, Orville and Wilbur Wright changed the world in just 12 seconds. Their historic journey over the dunes of Kitty Hawk, NC launched a century of aviation innovation. Now, nearly 100 years later - in a celebration with leading aviation associations, historians and enthusiasts - "Microsoft Flight Simulator" commemorates the global impact of the Wright brothers with a vivid, interactive computer simulation of that first powered flight. From October 17-20, SciTrek visitors can travel back in time and relive a pivotal moment in world history using the Wright Flyer Simulator. Visitors will become pilots as they operate a replica aircraft using hand levers and a shifting hip mechanism to control virtual take-offs and landings while lying in a horizontal hip cradle in front of a giant panoramic projection screen.
