The Sensuality of Pinot Noir @ City Grill
City Grill is pleased to present a tasting of one of the most sensual wines in the world on October 19th, 2005. Experience the rich taste of Pinot Noir wines as speaker, Kurt Pieper of Winemaverick, entertains questions throughout the event. The restaurant will offer a sampling of light hors d’oeuvres to compliment these memorable wines. The festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. with a social gathering for $19 per person including wine tasting and tapas.

Pinot Noir’s association with sensuality derives from the remarkably supple, silky textures and erotically earthy aromas that great Pinot Noirs display. In your mouth the best Pinots exude warm baked cherries, plums, mushrooms, cedar, cigars, chocolate, and dry leaves. Pinots are lighter in body and far less tannic than cabernet sauvignon. It is lighter in color also, but Pinot Noir’s flavors are just as full and irresistible. A great Pinot Noir can be an incomparable, potentially life-changing experience.

Compared to other grape varieties, Pinot Noir is finicky, erratic, difficult to work with, and painfully sensitive to conditions that range from where it's planted to when it’s bottled (which, by the way, is why it's expensive). And yet, there's something about Pinot Noir that keeps its fans lining up for more. To its fans, Pinot's unpredictability is part of its appeal. It has been said that anyone who grows Pinot Noir has to be a bit of a masochist, because Pinot Noir has to fail more than it succeeds. The same goes for the people who drink it. In a world that is increasingly obsessed with big wines, Pinot Noir is an anomaly: graceful, delicate and understated, it teaches you to look for nuances rather than bold statements. As Ken Kesey once wrote: “If you seek the mystery instead of the answer, you will always be seeking.” I can't think of a better way to describe Pinot Noir drinkers.
Wines that will be featured:
· Roessler Cellars, Pinot Noir, Central Coast, California, 2002
· Tin House Winery, Pinot Noir, California, 2001
· Tandem Cellars, Keefer Ranch Pinot Noir, Central Coast, California, 2002
· Lachini, Estate Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon, 2003
· Hamacher, Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon, 2001
· Jezebel, Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon, 2004

City Grill will feature Pinot Noir wines on the wine list throughout the entire month of October. The wines will also be paired with complimentary dishes on the Chef’s Tasting Menu on October 19th for those who would like to experience a meal dedicated to the delights of Pinot Noirs. Those who attend both the tasting and The Chef’s Tasting Menu will receive the total package for only $75.00 all-inclusive.
Chef Daniel Zoby will graciously prepare alternative selections for those who have special dietary needs. Reservations are suggested and may be made by calling 404-524-2489 or accessing www.citygrillatlanta.com. City Grill is located in the historic Hurt Building at 50 Hurt Plaza in downtown Atlanta.
