Henry IV, Part I By William Shakespeare @ Shakespeare Tavern
Featuring Maurice Ralston as King Henry IV, Brik Berkes as Prince Hal, Charles Nelson as Hotspur and Tony Brown* as Sir John Falstaff. Directed by Jeff Watkins
Our story continues as Bolingbroke has accepted the crown of England, becoming King Henry IV. Thus the Henry Chronicles begin. The King has much on his mind. Not only does he have to deal with a rebellion led by Glendower, Northumberland and Hotspur, but his son and heir to the throne, Prince Hal, is behaving badly. It seems that Prince Hal has taken to hanging out at the Boar’s Head Tavern with the roguish knight Sir John Falstaff and his conspicuous friends. What is a father to do? And what will Prince Hal do when he is called upon to help his father fight the rebels? Tawdry fun and Tavern games quickly turn to life and death as Prince Hal and Hotspur face off in the Battle of Shrewsbury- a battle that will seal Hal and Hotspur’s fate.

Henry IV, Part II By William Shakespeare @ Shakespeare Tavern

Featuring Maurice Ralston as King Henry IV, Brik Berkes as Prince Hal, and Tony Brown* as Sir John Falstaff. Directed by Jeff Watkins
Shakespeare became the forefather of the sequel by penning the next chapter of our story. As sequels demand, this chapter is filled with even more humor, more rowdy Tavern scenes, more Falstaff, and more rebellion than the first. Here Prince Hal must decide once and for all whether to turn his back on Falstaff, his notorious friends and his ale-inspired antics or whether he will finally become the son and heir to the throne that his father and his country demand. Rarely performed, this “part” is a must-see.

Henry V By William Shakespeare @ Shakespeare Tavern
Featuring Brik Berkes as King Henry V. Directed by Jeff Watkins
Our story concludes with one of the most patriotic and inspiring plays ever written. The Tavern becomes the “wooden O” as Prince Hal accepts his calling to the throne, becoming King Henry V. “O, for a Muse of fire!” After making a claim on the French throne, Henry leads his Englishmen into battle- a battle that looks to end the life of Henry, his men and England. In a rallying cry to end all rallying cries, on St. Crispin’s Day, Henry calls on his men to fight for “God, Harry, England, and St. George!” The Battle of Agincourt is decided as well as the hand in marriage of a French Princess to a certain English King.
