Music DOWNTOWN!
First of all, CONGRATULATIONS to downtown Atlanta's own Georgia Force Arena Football team, who defeated the Orlando Predators at Philips Arena last Saturday in an exciting game right down to the finish to become the CHAMPIONS of the National League! If you can't make it out to Vegas this weekend be sure to tune in to NBC (or at least have TiVO on the job) Sunday afternoon at 3 to cheer the Force on in their pursuit of a win at Arena Bowl 2005! One of our favorite weekends in downtown is finally HERE! Music Down ...er, "Midtown" is geared up and ready to rock the neighborhood South of North Avenue with an incredible line up including Tom Petty, The Pixies, The Killers, The White Stripes, Counting Crows, DEVO, Common, The Black Eyed Peas, Def Leppard, Lou Reed, and the list goes on and on. Be sure to check in at downtownATL.com for daily updates from center stage.

But as if that wasn't enough jam, as part of the celebration of Black Music Month VIBE MusicFest kicks off their inaugural year filling the dome with boom and more good tunes. Sean "P. Diddy" Combs will serve as master of ceremonies Friday night with performances including Kayne West, John Legend, 112 and Doug E. Fresh. Saturday night the groove continues with groups including Lauryn Hill, Big Boi of OutKast, Ludacris and Faith Evans. The event will also feature MusicFest days filled with everything urban. Inside the GWCC, fest fans will be able to meet and greet their favorite musical artists, celebrities, comedians and sports icons.

GA Force vs. Colorado Crush: Arena Bowl XIX
on NBC   Sunday, June 12th 3p
The National Conference Champion Georgia Force face the American Conference Champion Colorado Crush on Sunday, June 12th at 3 p.m. ET in ArenaBowl XIX in Las Vegas. ArenaBowl XIX will be the first-ever neutral site championship game in the 19-year history of the AFL. This will be the first appearance by either team in the ArenaBowl and match the two top seeds from each Conference. The Force and Crush have only played once before, when Georgia defeated Colorado 44-40 in the Crush's first game in franchise history back in 2003.

NBC Sports will broadcast live coverage of the game. Tom Hammond (play-by-play), Pat Haden (analyst), Lewis Johnson (reporter) and Marty Snider (reporter) will call the action. Al Trautwig hosts the AFL on NBC studio show from Las Vegas, joined by analysts Glenn Parker and Ray Bentley. The halftime show will feature a performance from recording artist Bryan Adams.

Theatrical Outfit Presents "Hank Williams' Lost Highway"
@ Balzer Theatre at Herren's   thru June 12th
This week is your LAST CHANCE to see the final show of the Theatrical Outfit's 2004-2005 season. We caught the show last week and enjoyed it so much we stuck around to meet the entire cast and buy their individual CDs. The cast is packed with both musical and theatrical talent and the show is a must see!

Straight from a wildly successful Off-Broadway run, Theatrical Outfit presents a new musical about this Southern legend. This show received fabulous reviews in New York and is sure to be a hot property for major theaters across the country. See it first on the Balzer Theater stage.

"MUSIC MIDTOWN"

Although they didn't change the catchy title, Music Midtown is DOWNTOWN once again this year at the Sci-Trek and Civic Center site just South of North Avenue. Be SURE to consider MARTA's Civic Center station for transportation to and from the site. MARTA has committed to run until at least 2:00a on Friday and Saturday and has increase staff to ensure safe and steady travel.

The White Stripes, The Killers, Keith Urban, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Counting Crowes, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Common, Black Eyed Peas, Francine Reed, Kid Rock, The Features, Keane, Def Leppard, The Pixes, Jermaine Dupri, Slick Rick and many more! Directly across the street from Music Midtown Local bands and songwriters will entertain each day throughout Music Midtown weekend. In addition to great food, there will be plenty of ice-cold brew and cocktail specials!
Vibe MusicFest
@ Georgia Dome and GWCC   JUNE 10TH & 11TH
VIBE President Kenard Gibbs announced an impressive line- up of celebrities, renowned speakers, authors, business leaders, and national influencers who will gather to participate in informative seminars, talent showcases, and other urban events as part of the weekend-long celebration of Black Music Month during the VIBE MusicFest Presented by BURGER KING.

Celebrities and national leaders such as Magic Johnson, Yolanda Adams, Chuck D, Donnie McClurkin, Michael Eric Dyson, T-Boz, Latoya London, and Reverend Al Sharpton will participate in seminars scheduled during the day Saturday, June 11, and Sunday, June 12 at the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC). Nighttime performances include the recently announced addition of hip hop's very own Lauryn Hill along with Kanye West, John Legend, Big Boi, Ludacris, Faith Evans, Amerie, 112, T.I., Tommy Davidson and Doug E Fresh.

Braves vs. Oakland

When the A's come to Atlanta for the first time ever this weekend, they'll be opposing a young-looking Braves team that would like to get healthy against the only sub-.500 record American League team they'll face in Interleague Play this year.

The Braves have lost 17 of their past 28 games and are now two games out of first place in the National League East. Meanwhile, the A's had split their previous six games heading into Thursday afternoon's series finale against the NL East- leading Nationals.

Sunday is Coca-Cola Collector's Series 1997 Division Champion Pennant Day with free pennants for the first 15,000 fans.

Film Fest: "Rebel Without a Cause" / "East of Eden"

The time-honored tradition of the summer film festival at the Fox Theatre is an experience not to be missed! The Fox Theatre kicks off the summer with the 2005 Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival. Tonight's double feature is "Rebel Without a Cause" and "East of Eden" (50th Anniversary). Both are rated PG-13.

29th Annual Atlanta Film Festival
    June 10-18
Tickets are on sale now for the 29th Annual Atlanta Film Festival, scheduled for Friday, June 10 through Saturday, June 18. The Atlanta Film Festival will take place at the Rialto Center for the Performing Arts, Landmark Midtown Art Cinema, The Carter Center and Atlanta-Fulton Public Library/Central.

Atlanta's own Ludacris co-stars in Hustle & Flow, the opening night film for the 29 th Annual Atlanta Film Festival on Friday, June10th at the Rialto.
