Happy Independence Day!
Celebrate the Fourth of July with WSB-TV's annual Salute 2 America Parade! Presented by Six Flags Over Georgia, this year's parade is held in honor of U.S. soldiers. Hometown hero, Chief Warrant Officer Ronald Young Jr., will preside as this year's grand marshal. The parade starts at 1:00 p.m. in Downtown Atlanta at Peachtree and Baker streets in front of the SunTrust Plaza building (303 Peachtree) before proceeding down Peachtree to Marietta Street before turning right and then going to Centennial Olympic Park Drive, where it ends.
After the parade, plan to spend the day at Centennial Olympic Park and celebrate America's birthday in a big way! This year, entertainment kicks off at 4:30 p.m. For the evening, the headliner will be the rock group KANSAS, known for its hits "Dust in the Wind" and "Carry on Wayward Son," taking the stage at 8:00 p.m. Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m.
MARTA (itsmarta) is strongly encouraged for all 4th of July activities. To get to Centennial Olympic Park, simply take the East-West Line to the Philips Arena/Dome/GWCC Station (W-1), or take the North-South Line to Peachtree Center (N-1), and follow the signs to Centennial Olympic Park.
