Want to know who, what, when and how Downtown is changing right before your eyes?
Then plan on attending the CAP/ADID October Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, October 23, 2003, Marriott Marquis, 7:30 - 9:00 a.m. The main agenda topic will be "Imagine Downtown" the recently announced growth strategy planning process with Mayor Franklin, as well as a broad range of smaller briefings from public safety to public spaces, traffic to transportation alternatives, what's entertaining and where it's happening. CAP/ADID want you to know about and join our efforts to make Downtown a place that we can all be proud of.

On Thursday the party doors finally open at Luxe (formerly Mumbo Jumbo) for the "No More Shirley Temples thanks to Mayor Shirley Franklin" Party. Downtown’s hottest new restaurateurs are thrilled to stop serving Shirley Temples and start selling their full bar and eclectic wine list. The owners will toast in her honor Thursday, October 23 from 5 – 7 p.m. at a cocktail reception featuring complimentary hors d’oeuvres by Executive Chef Patti Roth.

Ted Turner owns the largest herd of buffalo in North America. He's turned this into his next business venture -- think bison burgers! They are really healthy for you, so why not try 'em, or one of the MANY other superb menu selections (yes, including chicken and beef!) at this week's Downtown Dweller Happy Hour? Fellow members of the downtownATL 'Crew will be there, mingling with residents of downtown Atlanta for the Downtown Dweller Happy Hour at Ted's Montana Grill downtown. This event is held at different restaurants and bars in downtown Atlanta on the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month from 6:00 until 8:00.

Afterwards head on up to King Plow and start to get your Halloween groove on with the Square Hatter's 2nd Annual Halloween Masquerade Party. They are not looking for everyone to wear full costumes, but rather normal cocktail party attire with a mask. Costume preferred, but NOT required.

Join in the NBA "Premier Week" festivities at the 2003-2004 Atlanta Hawks Fan Fest on Sunday, Oct. 26th, from 3 - 6pm in Philips Arena. It is free and open to the public, and you'll be able to catch up with the entire crew, from the players to the dancers.

Then, on Monday, the Atlanta Hawks, the Atlanta Sports Council and the Atlanta Business Chronicle invite the local business community to a luncheon to tip-off the 2003-2004 Atlanta Hawks season! Guests will be able to dine with Hawks players, coaches and front office personnel as well as have the opportunity to address members of the team and organization during the Q&A session. The Hawks also will provide guests the opportunity to tour the locker rooms and even shoot a few hoops on the Hawks Sport Court.

There are many other events going on this week...for more information, please check out our website at www.downtownatl.com. We hope to see y'all real soon
