There
are so many things to do this week! Before getting into the
details, the Social Crew staff would like to extend a BIG
congratulations to the Atlanta
Downtown Neighborhood Festival on being awarded the "Best
New Event in the State of Georgia" presented by the Georgia
Festivals and Events Association.
Volunteers are needed for this year's festival, which will
be held
in the heart of this fine city of Atlanta
on Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18. If you are interested,
please contact Jennifer at downtownjen@bellsouth.net
for a volunteer form and/or for more information.
On Friday, there are several options for you! The Hawks
take on the Cavaliers at Philips
Arena, with a concert afterwards by Kool & The Gang.
After that, head over to Blue
Trout for a live performance by Francine
Reed. Friday also marks the premiere of The
Lion King at The Atlanta Civic Center.
On Saturday, Francine
Reed can be found once again at Blue Trout. Or step into
"margaritaville" at Philips Arena for the Jimmy
Buffett concert. The Blank Stage Theater will have a performance
of "The
Penis Dialogues" - a male version comedic spoof of
the popular touring show "The Vagina Dialogues."
On Sunday the Food
Studio has Executive
Chef Chip Ulbrich in the kitchen to share his
culinary know-how with Atlantans through his themed cooking
class. On Monday it is back to business at the Sheraton Atlanta
Hotel for the American
Marketing Association's Marketing Boot Camp - two days
of interactive sessions on marketing that will help reinforce
and focus your team's marketing skills.
For
more information about any of these events, check out the
area below for full details. Have a great week!
For
happenings outside of the
downtownATL area, "Atlanta
Illustrated" is your ticket. Highlights this week
include... TONIGHT the
Square
Hatters Cocktail Party @ Tongue and Groove - benefitting
the Shepherd Center and the Peachtree
Social Club is down the street @ Park Bench. The Port
O' Call Fundraiser to benefit The Ronald McDonald Houses

of the World - which will run through March 9th.
Hope to see yall real soon

The Children's Museum of Atlanta Grand Opening
The museum, located at the intersection of Centennial Olympic
Park Drive and
Baker Street, is focused on providing an environment where
fun and learning
are synonymous. Upon entering, families are invited to put
their
imagination to the test as they participate in critical thinking
activities,
such as becoming a gardener, collaborating on building a giant
maze or being
the architect of a sand castle. They can pretend to be the
next Monet and
paint on the walls, learn to dance, even make their own musical
instruments.
With all the different hats children can put on, learning
history, social
studies, science, math, geography and cultural arts becomes
a fun and
exciting experience that parents will enjoy, too!
The Children's Museum of Atlanta will be open daily from 10
am - 5 pm
Admission is $11 per person, children under the age of two
are free
Groups will enjoy a discounted rate and family membership
packages.
Due to the size of the exhibits and space, advance reservations
are strongly
encouraged. For more information and to purchase tickets,
please visit the
