Tonight
Sylvia's Soul Food
Restaurant welcomes Hump
Day Getaway - a
relaxed atmosphere that is great for networking. There will
be live music as pianist Doug Jackson
fills the
air with jazz and Sylvia's soul food buffet (best in town
y'all!) compliments of Chef Kenny Thomas.
On
Thursday local Blues favorite Francine
Reed will make a special guest appearance at the Blue
Trout - an excellent new intimate downtown spot. A few
of us from the downtownATL staff (and a few of y'all - you
know who you are!) hit the Trout to see Francine a few weeks
back - she tore it UP! Don't be fooled by "the Blues"
- you'll leave smiling ear to ear...and probably on a first
name basis the way she works the room.
The
Atlanta Thrashers hit The Biltmore (yes! you heard right!)
on Friday for a Casino
Night to
benefit the AFLAC Cancer Center of Childrens Healthcare
of Atlanta and the Atlanta Thrashers Foundation. Casino
Night will feature a dinner buffet, cocktails and casino games
with players, coaches and other local celebrities serving
as dealers.
On Saturday, lace up your Nikes and take a warm-up jog over
to Centennial Olympic Park for the "Run
for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta." They will
have something for everyone - a 2K, 5K, and 10K. This is a
Peachtree
Road Race qualifier!
For
more information on these events or any other events around
town, check out the full details below.
For events outside of the downtown area check out Atlanta
Illustrated...Friday
Jazz @ The High Museum of Art on Friday and the 9th
Annual Blue Healer @ Park Tavern on Saturday
Hope to see yall real soon

instruments. With all the different hats children can put
on, learning history, social studies, science, math, geography

Contact @ The Fox Theatre
A
musical without singers? Well, no -- there's Robert Palmer,
Dion and the Belmonts, and The Beach Boys to name a few. A
book musical with a minimum of talking? Yes, but Broadway's
hottest director / choreographer wrote it with one of Broadway's
most honored musical book writers. Time Magazine flat out
hailed Contact for "kicking the dust off a tired old
Broadway." They raved, "Contact is a trio of exquisitely
tooled production numbers peopled with lonely hearts longing
to reach out to someone, and when they finally touch, your
own heart does all the singing necessary."
