Hooray for Hollyweird @ Agathas
Grab your Oscar & hold on tight to your Golden Globes! Hollyweird's
biggest collection of wacko stars want to move Tinsel Town to Georgia,
but there's a psycho southern killer who has other plans! Just as
plans are finalized to move Hollyweird California to beautiful Butt-Head
Georgia, the mysterious Sweet Tea Strangler goes on another murderous
rampage. No one is safe with this sugary sweet assassin in town.
Can Atlanta Mayor Surley Frankly & California Govern-ator Arnold
Squat-some-later stop the Sweet Tea Strangler before he spoils the
big move? Probably not. I mean, come on, they're just politicians.
It's going to take a Super Cop to bring this villan to justice.
Let's just hope he arrives before the brightest stars in Hollyweird
are snuffed out. Russel Crowbar, Britney Spheres, Sloop Dogg, Jessica
Simpleton, Jim Scary, Jay Chin-o, Halle Barely and You are on the
guest list to appear. "Who will disappear?", is the question.
JOIN THE FUN AND FIND THE MURDERER!! IT MIGHT EVEN BE YOU! As always
at Agatha's, the audience participates in the action in the comic
murder mystery. Each night, the entire audience has a chance to
die laughing between 5 courses of dinner including hor d'oeuvres,
a choice of entree' and very cheap wine with the meal. Prices range
from $45.00 to $55.00 per person.

someone elses past. Using elements of art, music, athletics
and medicine, the World Premiere of Echoes of Another Man is both
a scientific and existential tale about the ultimate identity crisis.

The Mandrake and Cathedral (two shows on one bill!) @ New American
Shakespeare Tavern
ASC is pleased to introduce this special series of plays consisting
of all-time favorites of Artistic Director Jeff Watkins- plays which
will make your stomach hurt from laughing and your soul soar to
heights that can only be reached at The Shakespeare Tavern. Don't
miss this special double bill made just for you this January.
The Cathedral by Bo Ketchin
The evening begins with a magical tale of music and mystery, celebrating
sight, sound and ultimately life. This story of a young man who
can literally "see" music leads him to a Cathedral on
a journey of discovery, where reality becomes a vision, and vision
is transformed to a new reality. Complete with a musical score by
Bo Ketchin under the music direction of Matthew Trautwein, "Cathedral"
will take you to new levels of wonder and joy.
The Mandrake by Nicolo Machiavelli
The evening continues with with this outrageous comedy- the very
comedy that ASC took to the London Globe in 1995. Featuring the
comic genius of Jeff McKerley and a breakthrough performance by
Paul Hester, this play is fused with the best of comedia del arte
in this story of a man who will do anything to get the beautiful
young wife of a rich old man. Enter disguises, fantastic musical
interludes, plus a zany servant played by ASC's own Marc McPherson,
and hilarity ensues.

PORTRAITS and FIGURES: The Work of Sunaura Taylor @ VSA Arts of
Georgia
Ms. Taylor, a nationally known artist, was recently awarded the
Grand Prize in the 2004 Driving Force national juried art competition,
co-sponsored by the VSA arts Home Office in Washington, D.C. and
Volkswagen of America. The 22-year-old Taylor (known as Sunny)
was inspired to paint by her mother, also a painter, at the age
of 12. Sunny was home-schooled as a child in Athens, GA, and is
a self-taught artist who taught herself to paint old master
style, through rigorous independent study of classical techniques
and art history, supported by countless hours of work alone in her
studio. For more information, contact Ms. Jaehn (Jane)
Clare, Director of Artistic Development 404/221.1270, ext. 202.

Behind the Big Green Button: Digital Furniture Design Revealed @
Museum of Design
The Museum of Design collaborates with the Advanced Wood Products
Laboratory of the Georgia Institute of Technology for the premier
viewing of Behind the Big Green Button: Digital Furniture Design
Revealed. The Advanced Wood Laboratory, as a research unit of the
College of Architecture at the Georgia Institute of Technology,
began holding a very unique class this semester. Unlike most schools
in the country, GA Tech has access to state of the art Italian Computer
Numeric Control (CNC) equipment - the very machines used to mass
production. Industrial design students in the course learn the basic
techniques and methods used in the production of furniture, but
also learn them in conjunction with this sophisticated technology.
What's so special about that? Few schools emphasize the idea of
production, instead of on the artistsic or craftsman mode of furniture
building, in which duplication of a single pieces of furniture would
require days, if not months, of work. That is not to say that the
objects created by Tech's students are not works of art. Quite the
contrary! Each of the works displayed at the Museum of Design is
expressive and innovative - and once designed on the CNC machines,
can be reproduced rapidly. Executive Director of the Museum of Design,
David Webb, says of the exhibition, "this is the beginning
of an exciting collaboration with Georgia Tech's Industrial Design
program that we hope can be developed into an annual event."

8-1/2 x 11: Live & Uncensored @ Dads Garage
Dad's Garage builds on last year's hugely successful reinvention
of our annual festival this January with 8 1/2 new plays at the
cutting edge of American theatre. This time around playwrights from
across the country were invited to respond to the idea of "censorship."
They were given only one guarantee: Whatever they wrote would be
performed without edits based on content or theme. Now a company
of directors and actors bring you an exhilarating show unlike anything
you've seen. A strong word of caution: Anything goes. So strap yourself
in tight and get ready for a wild night!
