As You Like It @ New American Shakespeare Tavern
"All the world's a stage . . ." We end the season as we
began, with another trip into Shakespeare's enchanted woods where
Rosalind disguises herself as a man as Orlando litters the woods
with love notes praising her beauty and virtue. Will the two lovers
be united? Will Orlando survive the wrestling match? Will you have
a great time? Here's a hint: in June there's no better place to
be than in Shakespeare's woods at The Shakespeare Tavern.

Wildness of Sauvignon Blanc @ City Grill
6:30p
City Grill is pleased to present a tasting of one of the most riotous
wines in the world on June 15, 2005. Experience the wonderful intensity
of Sauvignon Blanc as speakers Leslie Maske of Prestige Wines and
Steven McKenzie from Wilson Daniels entertain questions throughout
the event. The restaurant will offer a sampling of light hors d’oeuvres
to compliment these memorable wines. The festivities begin at 6:30
p.m. with a social gathering for $19 per person including wine tasting
and tapas.
Sauvignon Blanc has been called the polar opposite of Chardonnay.
Where Chardonnay is all buttery roundness, Sauvignon Blanc is taut
and herbal with much more acidity through the center of the wine.
If Chardonnay is Marilyn Monroe then Sauvignon Blanc is Jamie Lee
Curtis. In fact, the name sauvignon comes from the French word for
‘sauvage’ or wild.
The beauty of this varietal is in its versatility: both the wine
and the food it accompanies are enhanced and made complete by the
pairing. While Chardonnay may well be at home in the living room
as an aperitif, Sauvignon Blanc's place is definitely in the dining
room. Sauvignon Blanc has the capacity to ennoble plain, simple
seafood, and will hold up nicely to herbal preparations (thyme,
rosemary, basil, tarragon, coriander -- flavors often found in Sauvignon
Blanc) or fowl and white meats such as veal and pork. The wine has
vibrant flavors that go surprisingly well with spicy and ethnic
cuisines, such as Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese, Korean, Mexican
and Southwestern dishes, as well as traditional French fare.
Wines that will be featured:
∑ Grant Burge, Sauvignon Blanc, Australia
∑ Gainey, Sauvignon Blanc, Santa Ynez, California
∑ Miguel Torres, Sauvignon Blanc, Chile
∑ Chateau Menaut, Graves, France
∑ Basa, Sauvignon Blanc, Spain
∑ Lambert Bridge, Sauvignon Blanc, Sonoma County, CaliforniaCity
Grill will feature Sauvignon Blanc wines on the wine list throughout
the entire month of June. The wines will also be paired with complimentary
dishes on the Chef’s Tasting Menu on June 15th for those who
would like to experience a meal dedicated to the delights of Sauvignon
Blanc. Those who attend both the tasting and The Chef’s Tasting
Menu will receive the total package for only $75.00 all-inclusive.
Chef Daniel Zoby will graciously prepare alternative selections
for those who have special dietary needs. Reservations are suggested
and may be made by calling 404-524-2489 or accessing www.citygrillatlanta.com.
