Raymond Loewy: Designs for a Consumer Culture @ Museum of Design
Opening Reception: To be announced
This engaging exhibition will celebrate the life's work of the father of American Industrial Design: Raymond Loewy. Audiences will travel through the evolution of Loewy's design career and at the same time experience the technological boom associated with mid-twentieth century America. From Loewy's early advertising illustrations, through his works in transportation design for household names such as Greyhound buses, United Airlines, and the Pennsylvania Railroad, to his famous household products including the Sears Coldspot refrigerator created during the post-war era, Loewy's ingenious skill for creating functional yet fabulous design shines through. Some objects in the exhibition will be drawn from the Smithsonian Institution collection.

RaceTown Atlanta @ Centennial Olympic Park
RaceTown Atlanta, the official festival event of the Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, thunders back into Centennial Olympic Park, Friday October 28 and Saturday October 29, giving race fans a great chance to gear up for a great race weekend at the track.

RaceTown Atlanta is free to the public and features appearances by NASCAR drivers, NASCAR show cars, race-themed interactive exhibits, merchandise, live music and all the excitement of racing in the heart of downtown Atlanta. Last year's event entertained 75,000 in the days leading up to Sunday's race.

The sights and sounds of the track will come alive with show cars including the #20 Home Depot car, #88 UPS car, #2 Miller Lite car, #31 Cingular Wireless car and many others. Drivers such as Kasey Kahne and Dave Blaney and legends like Richard Petty will make appearances to sign autographs and talk with race fans.

Richard Petty will appear at Race Town Atlanta on Friday Oct. 28 from 4:30 - 6PM
