The
only REAL reason to be afraid of downtown is all of the ghoulishly FUN
events that are coming to our city's center!
Here's some of our top picks:
1.
Actor's Express
and Dad's Garage Halloween Party @ Eyedrum, THU OCT 30
The party will be catered by La Paz (Southwestern faire). There will be
a raffle with items ranging from massage certificates to unique furniture
pieces to airline tickets; carnival games, kissing booths, tattoo booths;
live music; special guest appearances by Hedwig (Mark Salyer) and Matt
Chapman (creator of Homestar Runner); and our personal favorite-we are
auctioning off a date with each of our Artistic Directors, Sean Daniels
and Jasson Minadakis. Tickets are $25 and include unlimited drinks and
all the ghoulin' and carnival games you can handle.
2. Atlanta
Halloween Fest @ The Contemporary, FRI OCT 31
The Contemporary Museum of Art on Means Street is hosting a first class,
frighteningly fun Halloween event and party with live music of the 80s
by the band "Iambic Underground". There is a costume ball, DJ
and a very special "Dead Rock Star Karaoke".
3. 6th Annual
Brimstone Boogie @ SciTrek, FRI OCT 31
"BOOOOO to HUNGER" It's time once again for Atlanta's biggest
and wildest 6th annual Halloween party! Join the party in your craziest
costume (best male & female costumes will win a pair of roundtrip
tickets from JetBlue Airways); enjoy great music, food and beverages--
all within the creepy confines of SciTrek. 100% of net proceeds benefit
the Food Bank! Learn to be a good ghoul here.
4. Halloween Bash
2003 @ Dailey's Downstairs, FRI
OCT 31
Daileys Downstairs 3rd Annual Halloween Bash will be a ghoulish
night of haunts and merriment! Special witches brew and delicious appetizers
will be featured and as always there is no cover charge. The witching
hour is 8 p.m. downstairs in the lair with DJ Dana Daniels spinning spooky
sounds and later in the evening, revelers compete in a creepy costume
contest with cash prizes going to the most creative!
5.
Disco Halloween
Party @ Tin Roof Cantina, FRI
OCT 31
Cuervo Tequila invites you to make your Halloween
party plans to be at the Tin Roof! Dust off your bell bottoms and platform
shoes because Atlanta's premier funk/disco cover band, Thriff Shop, will
have you doing The Bump till well beyond the bewitching hour. There'll
be contests, giveaways, special Halloween drinks, and prizes for Sexiest,
Funniest and Most Original costumes. Plus, Tarot Reader Miss Kaytha will
be on hand to give free readings - find out what's in store for you and
your love life in 2004! Cover only $5...
On Saturday, the 2003
Georgia Craft Brew Challenge will be at Max Lager's.
You won't want to miss this event...For
the first time ever, over 45 Georgia craft beers will be on tap in the
same place at the same time. That includes the best from our 4 microbreweries
and most of the state's brewpubs. There will be a few beers brewed especially
for this event- you won't see them otherwise. As long as you like beer,
you'll definitely find several you like. Creative Loafing's 2003 "Best
Loungecore Act," Kingsized, will thrill the crowd with their swingin'
tunes. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Your admission includes
the show by Kingsized, a program, a souvenir glass, and last, but not
least, the beer. 5 beer tickets are included with your admission...we
are doing bigger pours than most festivals, so it is a really good deal.
Of course, you must be 21 to participate.
