The Shakespeare History Extravaganza or "Quite Possibly, the Greatest English Mini-Series Ever Told" kicks off Thursday night with opening of "Richard II" at the Shakespeare Tavern. This fall the soul of a nation is born on The Shakespeare Tavern stage as their very best actors bring some of the greatest characters of all time to 499 Peachtree Street. With just five performances per play, a single company of actors will tell this epic four-part tale. It's a story of a father's rise to power. It's a story of a father with a rebellious son. It's the story of a rebellious son who prefers drink and women to the responsibility he was born to. It's a story of a son who finds the courage to become the man, King, and husband he was destined to be. Filled with fathers and sons, husbands and wives, brothers and sisters, whores and thieves, braggarts and cowards, betrayal, jealously, rage, war, laughs, lust, love, marriage, life and death, our actors will take you to Taverns, to battlefields, to court, to the core of what it means to be human.
