FEATURED EVENT: THRU SAT

It's a bird, it's a plane, no....it's a....bat?!? Yep, that's right, the furry creatures with pointy noses and wings have taken over downtownATL this week.

First, "Bat Boy" is LIVE and on stage at Dad's Garage through Saturday evening.  Bat Boy first rose to notoriety following an article on his dicovery in the Weekly World News in 1992. Since that time, his exploits have been regularly featured in the magazine. This campy musical tells Bat Boy’s side of the story. Learn about his discovery in a cave in Hope Falls, West Virginia, his attempts to mainstream into society, his search for love, and of course his unfortunate and misunderstood tragic flaw - an addiction to drinking blood.

If that does not satiate your thirst for bat knowledge, how about visiting SciTrek's new traveling bat exhibition? “Masters of the Night: The True Story of Bats” brings the mystery surrounding bats out of the dark. The exhibition, with concurrent tours in the United States, Mexico and Europe, dispels popular misconceptions about bats, describes their ecological importance and gives visitors an appreciation of the true wonders of the bat world.

If you decide that you are hooked on bats for life, there is an organization out there that will welcome you with open arms. It is called Bat Conservation International, and their purpose is to protect bats from extinction and to educate the public about the benefits of them. If you are interested, check out www.batcon.org.

There are many other non-bat related events going on this week...for more info please check out our website at www.downtownatl.com. We hope to see y'all real soon
